In 2009, Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak established a sovereign wealth fund called 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to help the country attract foreign investment and boost its economy. Long story short, by 2015, 1MDB owed investors $11 billion. As investigations of the state fund got underway, it was revealed that $681 million dollars had been deposited into Najib’s personal account. The Prime Minister copped to the money transfer, but claimed it was a gift from Saudi royal family, about $620 millions of which he says he has returned. Two weeks ago, the 1MDB investigation uncovered that the total routed into Najib’s personal account was actually about $1 billion.
Malaysia is a de facto one-party country. All the country’s six post-independence prime ministers have come from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). That is why Najib owes his position to his party, not to the Malaysian people – good news for a man currently polling at 23 percent, the lowest ever for a Malaysian head of Government. He has spent the last half-decade strengthening his position within UMNO, and the past year since the 1MDB scandal broke purging his party of potential adversaries. This past summer, Najib fired his attorney-general, who had been leading the 1MDB investigation. Malaysia exemplifies how corruption drives man fall short in countries with a single party and weak governing institutions.

Malaysia has made an appearance in the influential Time magazine again, this time with the dubious distinction of being among a list of five countries whose corruption scandals are being highlighted.

Malaysia Rated as 2nd Most Corrupt Country IN THE WORLD

4. These are some of the reports on corruption in Malaysia. There are scores of similar reports in the media all over the world. The US Dep. of Justice reported on money stolen from 1MDB being laundered through purchases of properties and paintings and financing film production.

5. But in Malaysia the main stream media have never reported on 1MDB scandal after The Edge was forced to stop publication following a series of reports by it.

6. The PM’s aide will not know about these reports as Najib’s supporters only read the local papers which are not allowed to publish anything exposing Najib’s misdeeds. The aide knows about what I said regarding Malaysia’s corruption probably through my blog and reports in the alternative media.

7. Yes, I am working with the opposition parties to topple Najib. Only idiots or corrupt people would still support Najib and ignore the condemnation of him for money laundering by the rest of the world.

8. Yes, I did a U-turn. Only a stupid driver would drive straight on when seeing the road ahead has been blown up and is no longer passable. To support Najib who has been accused of stealing billions of Ringgit, and a dumb corrupt UMNO would make me a traitor to my country. Hence the U-turn.

9. The aide must have eaten a lot of bran in his mouth to make his stupid statement that I was running down the nation. The whole world has run down this nation.

8. A country that was once labelled an Asian Tiger is now labelled as the second most corrupt country in the world. That is the achievement of Najib as Prime Minister of Malaysia. And that achievement is due to Ministers and other BN leaders corruptly supporting him.

    Salam Dearest YAB Tun,

    Mohon izin Tun:

    A. Congratulations PDRM, The Health Ministry, The Foreign Ministry and all those involved in handling Jong Nam’s murder case! Well done!

It happened in our country, and definitely North Korea must respect (follow) our LAWS and the International laws.

    B. The TOP 3 MOST CORRUPT (out of 176) countries based on the Corruption PERCEPTIONS Index 2016:

    1. Somalia (176)

Look who’s actually running down the nation – by making it look like as if we are declaring war against North Korea the regime thinks it can mend things and get people’s support? Don’t know who the advisors of the regime but how things are turning have made them look even more ridiculously stupid.

And their religious counterpart PAS will ever so endlessly make us all Malaysians filled with guilt and shame and hellbound! Only PAS go to heaven.

    Take care Tun.

  3. adelheid Mar 10,2017 4:46 PM

    Dear Tun,

How are you. I hope everything is in perspective. I see you running here there, looking good as you are, praise God.

Tun, by now I believe not only you but the rest of us here will have already made up our mind in which direction we want to go. Whatever the regime says or does now does not carry much weight – we support the Pakatan Harapan, we want change that is long due to us all citizens of this beloved country. We are tired of being manipulated and bullied by the present one party monopoly BN.

I believe Malaysia will soar again and recover if the real problem is solved – UMNO & BN – these corrupted tissues must be cut off because they are highly corrupted from the inside and out, their principles all broken. And now with their new counterpart PAS – this nation will definitely crash to doom.

Bulatkan hati Tun. We all have. We set our hearts to a new paradigm.

Make Malaysia great again. Minus the present regime.

Take good care dearest Tun Dr. Mahathir. You are always in our prayers.

  4. Karl Iskandar Mar 9,2017 10:32 AM

People may read, but they may not have the guts to understand what they read.

DrM is a good friend of, and who even considers himself a brother to, Suharto, the most corrupt leader in the modern history.

They share a common value in terms of political cronyism and style of leadership.

Both are alleged to have siphoned billions of dollars from state wealth for their personal gain. Suharto held at least USD15 Billion under his account says a WSJ report.

Will DrM too get his name listed as the top 10 most corrupted leader by his association with and his admiration for Suharto? Very likely, and understandably so.

In contrast to DrM’s friendship with Suharto, we are witnessing King Salman’s friendship with Najib as a real-time affirmation of good standing for the Malaysian leadership.

It is important who you are friends with. I believe King Salman would have avoided meeting Suharto and DrM.

  5. Hajar Mar 8,2017 9:46 PM

    Salam Dearest YAB Tun,

    1. Definitely, PM Najib @ Ah Jib Gor is in the top 10 most corrupt Head of Government (along with his accomplices), but I disagree that Malaysia (as an entity; including all its people / government-GLCs agencies/staff, etc.) is in the top 10.

“In too many countries, people are deprived of their most basic needs and go to bed hungry every night because of corruption, while the powerful and corrupt enjoy lavish lifestyles with impunity.”
    – José Ugaz, Chair of Transparency International”

I believe we still have enough ‘food’ to eat (if we are willing to put some effort and work harder – ‘tidak malas!’; and be frugal) even though the cost of living is much higher now.

    2. Of course PM Najib’s regime is currently destroying our beloved country, and we must stop him.

    3. And, of course Tun is not ‘running down the nation’ (as accused by the PM’s aide). In fact, Tun is trying very hard to save Malaysia from further destructions by PM Najib’s regime.

    Thanks Tun.

    Assalamualaikum Tun,

Who actually is running down the nation? They are the very people who glorify thieving and lying and gave white lies as excuses to cover-up their bad deeds. Their main roles in the 1MDB financial scandals and RM2.6billion ‘donation’ saga have shamefully placed Malaysia in the chart of corrupted countries.

Malaysia should not have been on the record any where in any downgraded chart in the first place. Since our founding ‘fathers’ of yesteryears, Malaysia has worked so hard to be a successful democratic country run by the dominant Malay-Umno whose leadership were evidently trustworthy, honest with great integrity. But after being in power for too long – greed set in and the temptation to cheat and lie became too great to resist thus so agitated the seeds of downfall of a nation. Any country in the chart of corrupted countries translates into corrupted leadership which eventually lead to a fail state, fail because the economy will not grow as money meant to develop a nation has gone into their personal pockets.

Unfortunately Malaysia is listed in the chart because she is run by these corrupted MalayUmno leaders who are so loyal and obedient (for the wrong reasons), they would do anything to save their positions that would stay them in power – power means making wealth. MalayUmno has taught the Malays to be so materialistic – have this have that, take this take that – it has become the food of live, without them the Malays cannot survive, so they say and the unfortunate un-informed Malays believe what are fed to them. Is this how the Malays want to live?

They can sweet-talk some of the kampong folks and suburban Malays some of the time but not all of them all the time. It’s time Malaysia needs a thorough check-up and given a large dose of antibiotics by The Doctor in the House to kill off the bad germs. May Malaysia be free from these bad corrupted germs forever.

Terima kasih Tun.

    Salam Tun,

Just to say something to our fellow friend here….

    Dear HBT4567890…

“If muslim community and their leaders are not willing to give up their right to kahwin empat and friday prayers, then, there is no point in selling malaysia boleh, gemilang, cermerlang and terbilang and 1 malaysia to the non muslim”

Please oh please, you can talk about any other things but try your level best not to encroach on matters relating to religion. Are you actually know these things for a fact? Again please and please and please limit ourselves.

I do not know about Chinese religious beliefs whether they can marry more than one or not as I’m not the expert. I do not know also why many Chinese have a small red house which they pray upon everyday…. No I do not know, so I do not like to talk about it.

For a Muslim, do not forget, once a women officially married to a man, she has equal rights to every other wifes that particular man has. Unlike mistresses, they can come and go and can be replaced easily without having the burden of paying alimony or anything as such… which we know many of our upscale community members are practicing now.

Again, please refrained from talking things which we do not know.

  11. HBT456 Mar 7,2017 8:30 AM

Its alright as muslim leaders, you can do your umrah obligation to help them in the name of your bangsa and agama. But, you cannot go into the extend of exploiting other faiths that want to keep their religions.

  12. Karl Iskandar Mar 7,2017 8:14 AM

There are 175 nations altogether in the world rankings of Corruption Perceptions Index by the definitive and indisputable Transparency International.

If we divide the nations equally into three groups – the Good, the Bad and the Ugly – guess where our beloved Malaysia will land herself into?

Yup, you don’t need to eat dedak or wear bedak like a hero-bunga and make many u-Turns before you get to the right answer.

We are in the front group, and so looking Good, that the Chinese and the Arabs are wooing us like there’s no tomorrow – with billions and billions of FDI’s – just like they do in the UK, Australia, Europe or wherever they can find a healthy returns on their investments.

To the investors, it is simple economics not U-Turnomics.

Now, I’m beginning to really wonder how much FDI from China and Saudi Arabia that our good doctor in the house managed to clip together during his 22 years as the PM?

I really don’t know what to say-lah. But the more important question for you to ask yourself is, WHY they avoid DrM like a deadly virus back then, and even now?

Answer : ___________ (in not more than five letters)

  13. Fender Mar 6,2017 10:23 PM

Tun Dr.M is not running down the nation. He is starting the facts. And Tun Dr. M is not the first and only who says this. Of course he is not going to be the last one either.
Are you serious in helping the country? Any serious person will face criticism and comments. Some of them are helpful. We should shoot the messages unless we are fools.
The point is no amount of denial will carry you clear of this awful situation.
Remember your wife and children are not blind. You will earn their respect or lose theirs. Imagine the days will come your grandchildren will hear how this once rich country was destroyed by scrums like you. The deeds of the grandfather will circulate around and even go into history books. We all know your post the the PM office makes you powerful. It is the legacy that will make you proud or shameful.

Its not a surprise that ambassador could be expelled just like that after yahudi, israel.

Its time for the chinese political parties to decide whether they should stay in or out from the state and federal government as the race that they are representing is decreasing years after years.

Seriously speaking, it they want to stay in politics, they must open up to their membership to foreigners because umno has already done this via project ic in sabah, rohingya refugee protection and intake of syria refugees.

Whether we like or not, life will go on as usual.

I see some of my fellow commentators are flabbergasted and dumbfounded with the comments of the odd characters like ‘Karl Iskandar’. This article might help us better understand how to spot and deal with people afflicted with the mental illness (actual or feigned).

Anosognosia: The Most Devastating Symptom of Mental Illness

Copyright (c) 2008 by Kevin Thompson.

Mental illness comes in many forms. Depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and the anxiety disorders all have the potential to be crippling, and ruin lives. Yet as terrible as depression, mania, psychosis, and the other symptoms of these disorders can be, there is one that stands out as the most damaging of all:

This obscure word, which is pronounced “uh-no-sog-no-zha,” means “denial of illness,” and is more serious than you might think.

Most people understand the psychological concept of denial, which is a refusal to believe an uncomfortable truth. Who hasn’t heard heard a heavy drinker, eater, smoker, or drug user say, “I can quite any time I want,” or someone with a chronic cough (which may indicate a serious illness) say, “It’s not important–It’s just a cough.” Pressing the denier on the obvious gap between reality and his belief typically yields a flurry of thin excuses that support his position, and can provoke an outburst of anger if continued long enough.

Denial serves a useful purpose in helping people cope with sudden change, and is harmless as long as it is not maintained too long. Denial becomes harmful when it interferes with a person’s ability to cope effectively with the challenges he faces. Fortunately, denial is temporary in most cases, and even chronic deniers can can learn better over time.

Anosognosia is quite different. It is not simply denial of a problem, but the genuine inability to recognize that the problem exists. It is a common consequence of brain injuries, and occurs to varying degrees in such disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Alzheimer’s disease. (I hasten to add that “common” does not mean “universal!” Most people who suffer from these illnesses are quite aware that they are sick.)

Someone who has anosognosia isn’t being difficult, or refusing to face the truth. He is literally unable to believe that his illness is, in fact, an illness. As a result, he does not see any reason to take medication that can control his illness. Many people who have anosognosia will refuse to take medication for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, because they do not believe they are ill. If pushed, they may give the appearance of cooperation, while secretly discarding their medication.

In the case of paranoid schizophrenia, where the patient believes others are conspiring to harm him or control his life, the combination of anosognosia and paranoia can provoke the him to violent action in an attempt to escape his “persecutors.” (Sadly, the often debilitating side effects of antipsychotic medication, which, unlike his illness, are all too apparent to the patient, provide supporting evidence for his beliefs.)

For a symptom with such an obscure name, anosognosia plays a prominent role in both law and medicine. Treatment for most illnesses is taken at the discretion of the patient, who is free to seek, select, or decline treatment, as he considers appropriate. However, there are times when the individual’s right to control his medical treatment conflicts with other important principles, namely, the sanctity of life, and the protection of others from harm. A person who is in the grip of a severe psychotic episode, who is judged likely to harm himself or someone else, may legally be committed to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation and treatment, on an involuntary basis. Such treatment usually consists of antipsychotic or mood-stabilizer medications, observation, and possibly restraint.

Most patients who are prone to psychosis (primarily, those with schizophrenia) do not have any particular desire to harm other people. The danger comes not from a desire to harm, but from hallucinations and delusions that can drive violent actions. (For example, a patient may sincerely believe he is fighting for his life against an evil force, when in reality he is attacking an innocent person.) So it is not surprising that patients who are aware of the nature of their illness, and the risk of such harm, generally do prefer treatment to prevent violent incidents. Similarly, patients who have anosognosia about their psychotic symptoms, but whose behavior is harmless, may not have a need for medication that justifies removal of their right to make decisions about their treatment

However, those psychotic patients who are at risk for committing violent acts, and also have anosognosia, are both dangerous, and unable to believe that anything is wrong with them. Because of this belief, they will refuse treatment, and remain dangerous. These are the patients whose right to control their own treatment conflicts with the right of others to safety.

In the end, each case must be handled on its own merits, and someone must make the difficult calls–and be prepared to live with the consequences. It is because of anosognosia that such calls must be made.

“Malaysia has become one of the 10 most corrupt countries in the world” is based upon a report prepared by Global Financial Integrity called: “Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries: 2003-2012”.

If you probed further, Malaysia actually ranks TOP 5, that’s right TOP FIVE. That was when Pak Lah (2003-2009) and Najib (2009 – present) were PM. Can you believe it? Corruption since “Mr Clean” took office?

Corruption has drained the nation’s resources off, into the pocket of a few, at the expense of our beloved nation and Rakyat.

Later, Rakyat will suffer even more, with the implementation of weekly fuel price adjustment. The Government needs economists’ advice on how to manage the overall economy and sustain its competitive edge over others. The distribution of BR1M alms won’t help and will kill the nation, like what happens in Greece.

Sebenarnya kita Kaya , TAPI Gagal mengawal Kewangan maka kita jadi Miskin
Sudah nyata , sudah pun berlaku sekarang

Kerajaan Melayu , khususnya orang Melayu memang Boros

Orang Islam gagal memunafaatkan Rahmah Allah sebaiknya

    Lihat saja Timur Tengah
Negara Islam Tewas di Tangan Israel yg kecil negara , kecil penghuninya
    Yahudi menguasai Dunia sekarang
Dan umat Islam sedang menjadi Santapan orang Yahudi , Dunia Barat

    Begitu juga kita di Malaysia
Kita masih menambah Hutang bukan mengurangkan , masih bergadai Tanah dan Assets kita
Masih di belenggu dengan Keresahan dan Kesusuhan

    Tidak Jimat semasa Berada
    Lebih Belanja dari Berusaha
    Lebih membazir dan bermunafaatkan
    Lebih Lagak dari Buat

Kita sebenarnya miskin sekarang tapi berlagak Kaya

Lihat saja pemimpin kita si Najib
    Gaya macam orang Kaya
Hutang Keliling Pinggang masih nak support Clinton Campaign
Pakain nya bukan cokak chokak macam pakaian Jokowi
Cara kehidupan beliau menyalahkan orang kaya
Tapi semuanya duit rakyat , duit Malaysia

    Someone wrote this…

Mr. Najib took the opportunity of King Salman’s visit to Malaysia by claiming that when even oil-rich Saudi had increased its fuel price by 50%, Malaysians should be grateful over a small 20 sen hikes. The cunning Najib deliberately hides the fact that before the hike, Saudis pay only US$0.16 a litre and has gone up to US$0.24 a litre after the hike.

At US$0.24 a litre or RM1.06 a litre of petrol / gasoline, Saudis are paying 117% lesser than Malaysians, who now pay RM2.30 a litre of RON95. Najib also conveniently didn’t explain how the unfortunate Saudis enjoy free healthcare, free schooling, zero income tax, public pensions, subsidized water and electricity, and even unemployment benefits.

Day by day we hear new surprises popping
1MDB , Felda ,young UMNO members becoming super rich overnight & the gedebak gedebuk , God knows what is happening
Najib should go to the Roots of these , it is his Duty

OSA should be practice by Rosmah to monitor Najib movement
Not be use to blind the roots of our National problem

    Assalamualaikum, Tun.

We should register a note of appreciation to the present head of MACC, where after his take-over of the head role, MACC seems more active in arresting the corrupted culprits in GLCs and government agencies.

Keep it up, for good work, MACC.

  30. The Hidden Secret Mar 4,2017 6:49 AM

    Assalamualaikum, Tun.

Our leaders should always hold in their mind, “Leadership by Good Example”. Always show patriotism. Love the country. Don’t ever commit corruption.

Worth to note, despite National Audit Department’s audit report showing incidences of abuse and misuse of resources, many governmental agencies heads are still kept in their power, as if their post is something granted and untouchable.

Government should sack the government agencies heads who have committed wrongdoings, to alert others to maintain good discipline in not committing corruption or misuse of resources. Don’t ever treat the audit report as just for formality and ignorable!

    Assalamualaikum, Tun.

What a shame of you, PM’s aide!

It seems that he likes a gain a favour, portraying himself a loyal supporter, by simply throwing baseless, unjustified blames on political foe.

Our beloved nation will only move backward if those holding position don’t focus on productive events and issues, and keep trying to harm the Opposition politicians!

Thank you Karl Iskandar for pointing to this link:

If you look across the years from 1996 to 2017.

Malaysia trend in the global corruption index is increasing to become more and more corrupt year after year.

The last administration of Mahathir was number 33 least corrupt , today it is number 54 least corrupt and the trend is frightening increasing.

I dont agreed to their suggestion. You are healing a country and trying to bring it back to where it suppose to be, a lively and thriving country for every Malaysians. The current morally, politically and emotionally wrong situational must be stop at all cost.

    DrM Rambo Rambles On …

DrM claims that Malaysia has become one of the 10 most corrupt countries in the world.

But isn’t this claim ridiculous? (for those who believe in that claimant, I will still not use big words like idiotic to describe them)

Purportedly, Malaysia is ranked 29 notches ‘less corrupt’ than China on the Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International.

According to as per DrM’s link to the website.

    Russia 131
    China 83
    Brazil 79
    India 76
    South Africa 64
    Malays 54

Let’s say, if China, and being the largest world economy is put at the top of the most corrupt list, Malaysia would still be placed at number 29 and is nowhere in the top 10.

Its either DrM is delusional and can’t handle the math when writing this entry

    Najib has No ingredients
    He is Baseless
    A Useless Guy indeed

    He could not attack Tun
As he has nothing to go against Tun
He made False accusations & allegation
    Composing stories composing Doubts
    Intends to tarnish Tun Mahathir

BUT It does not work as much as The US , The Israel
Did a Good Job to tarnish the Muslims
    Again it did not work
They may destroyed most Muslim Nation as Muslim Nation did not have Military ambition as greed as them
Again I personally Thanks ex President of the United States , Mr. George Bush

    Kalau ini hakikatnya:

    Sept 2, 2015 – (
TITLE: Malaysia PM urged to come clean on scandal at anti- graft meeting

    Feb 28, 2017 –
    Malaysia Corruption Rank.
    No 60 of 175 countries in 2011
    No 23 in 1995
    No 1 Denmark
    No 175 Somalia

Mar 18, 2016 – (Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Australian National University)
    1. Brazil
    2. Malaysia

Umpama kata, KOKOK BERDERAI-DERAI, EKOR BERGELUMANG TAHI.

    Salam Tun,

Keadaan Malaysia zaman sekarang agak menakutkan dgn Tun sendiri pun diorang bole menyatakan mcm2 infact betul kata pepatah “kacang lupa kan kulit”. Dengan berkuasa as PM dia bole ckp apa2 utk menegak kan benang yg dah basah. Bg saya kalu Tun berkesempatan utk baca tulisan saya ini.. waktu Tun masih berjuang utk Rakyat Malaysia … Tun kena jg kesihatan & sentiasa beribadat tanpa kira waktu.. waktu kita sangat singkat sekrang.. cth paling mudah pemergian Alyarham Jins Shamsuddin..waktu pegi minum Allah tarik nyawa kejap je… Saya doakan Tun moga diberi kekuatan utk terus beribadat & berjuang utk generasi yg akan dtg… kesian generasi akan dtg ibarat idup segan mati x mahu…

p/s Saya kenalan Amrizal Majid… dgr ramai Top Gun Proton dah left Proton… mmg lg hancur Proton… Allah maha mengetahui apa yg terbaik utk Proton Ameen…

  44. z2z Mar 3,2017 2:45 AM

    Dear Tun,

It seems Najib is much harder to dislodge than I expect – he is blind, deaf and mute when it comes to 1MDB. Meanwhile his sycophants seize every opportunity to spread their alternative facts.

The problem with Malaysia is not just Najib and UMNO, it is the apathetic rakyat. These people do not care if their country and resources are being sold of not for the benefit of the current and future generation of rakyat, but for the privileged politically connected few. Wonder if these people will behave the same if a burglar entered and ransacked their house

In hindsight, what actions would Tun have taken and policies put in place to improve democracy and transparency in Malaysia? What safeguards you would put in place to prevent self-serving demagogues like Najib from assuming power?

    Salam Tun.
