1. The people of Tunisia and Egypt have overthrown their Governments. A number of people have been killed in the process. More will follow before the uprisings will be over. Now comes the problem of setting up new Governments which would make the struggle and the sacrifices worthwhile. If the new Governments fail then all the struggles and sacrifices would have been in vain.

2. I am sure that the people would want to see a democratic Government, a Government of the people, by the people, for the people.

3. This sounds great but Government by the people will not be so easy. You cannot have the people directly governing themselves. You will need to have a new constitution and political parties which will enable representatives of the people to form the Government. For this, elections will have to be held. Unfortunately elections can be manipulated.

1. Dalam Utusan Malaysia 18hb Februari, 2011, Nik Aziz bertanya apa bukti dia mengkafir UMNO.

2. Allah Maha Kaya.

3. Kepada soalannya, dia sendiri menjawab, “Tolak agama ambil nasionalis, apa nama kerja ini”. Jadi nasionalis UMNO di dakwa oleh Nik Aziz menolak agama. Dan dia bertanya, “apa nama kerja ini”. Tolak agama bermakna kafir. Jadi Nik Aziz tuduh UMNO kafir.

JAWAPAN KEPADA NIK AZIZ

1. Percubaan Dato Nik Aziz untuk memperingatkan saya bahawa saya akan berdiri dihadapan Allah s.w.t. satu masa nanti sedikit sebanyak membuktikan keangkuhannya seolah-olah saya tidak tahu akan agama saya. Saya juga beriman dengan hakikat bahawa setiap apa yang dipertuturkan dan diperbuat di dunia ini akan diadili di akhirat nanti.

2. Nik Aziz juga akan berdiri dihadapan Allah satu masa nanti dan segala yang dipertutur dan dilakukan olehnya di dunia ini akan diadili di akhirat nanti dan lidah, tangan dan kaki Nik Aziz akan jadi saksi. Bukan bagi Nik Aziz untuk mengadili saya atau sesiapa dan bukan Nik Aziz yang akan mengadili dirinya sendiri.

3. Sehingga kita diadili di akhirat kita tidak boleh dengan angkuhnya merasa kita tidak berdosa dan orang lain yang berdosa. Allah s.w.t. sahaja yang mengetahui segala dosa yang dilakukan oleh sesiapa, termasuk Nik Aziz. Dakwaan Nik Aziz yang dianya beriman, setelah mengkafir dan memecahbelah orang Islam, membuat berbagai-bagai tuduhan, akan ditentukan oleh Allah s.w.t. Tidak memadai dengan pengakuan Nik Aziz yang dianya beriman.

1. A new book on Lee Kuan Yew has appeared with the title “Lee Kuan Yew – Hard Truths To Keep Singapore Going.” It is a collection of 16 interviews with Lee Kuan Yew by Singapore journalists.

2. What is the hard truth which will keep Singapore going? It is, according to Lee Kuan Yew the vulnerability of Singapore. Without saying so in so many words, Lee Kuan Yew believes that the island’s neighbours would war against it if it has no military capacity to defend itself. The United Nations would not help Singapore in the event of such an attack.

3. Even America would not defend Singapore despite the Security Framework Agreement. America went to the aid of Kuwait because of oil, but Singapore’s problem is water.

1. I must congratulate Paskal, the Royal Malaysian Navy’s commandos, for their success in preventing the capture of the Malaysian ship by Somali pirates recently.

2. It seems that the Korean commandos have been equally successful in frustrating the Somali pirates from hijacking a Korean ship.

3. I wonder if this means that the anti-piracy forces of the different countries are responsible for the ships of their own countries only. Will the Malaysian or Korean commandos sit by and watch as ships of other nations are hijacked in front of their eyes?

**Saya ucapkan Selamat Menyambut Tahun Baru Cina kepada semua rakyat Malaysia terutamanya kepada pembaca blog saya ini. Gong Xi Fa Cai**

1. It looks like the Arab countries are experiencing some kind of revolution. Apparently the people are not happy with the leadership of their largely authoritarian Governments. Equally obviously they want a change of Governments or the leaders.

2. The revolution has succeeded in Tunisia. Now we are seeing upheavals in Egypt.

3. Should these revolutions succeed there would be new Governments. But it is worthwhile to remember that change is not always for the better. It is incumbent upon those bent on effecting change to have some idea about the kind of Governments they want. Otherwise they may get the same kind of Governments that they try so hard to be rid off. This is because most leaders upon achieving power would change and would forget the struggles and sacrifices which enabled them to be in power. Power corrupts as we all know.
